Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park. Situated just beyond the western border of Exmoor National Park at the top of one of the longest village streets in England, Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is an exceptionally popular Exmoor and North Devon family attraction. There's plenty of parking above the attraction and then it's a short walk to the animals, dinosaur models and exhibits.

Major Exmoor attractions

Dunster Castle. National Trust castle by east border of Exmoor. It's a top Westcountry tourism attraction with lots of special family events.

Dunster Estate. Find England's tallest tree!

West Somerset Railway. Steam trains (mostly) run between Minehead on the National Park east border and Bishops Lydeard just south of the Quantock Hills AONB.

Wimbleball Lake. Major Exmoor family attraction. Outdoor activities and watersports near Dulverton in the south east section of the National Park.

Dunkery Beacon. Highest point on Exmoor. There are car parking areas along the moorland road that crosses Dunkery Hill. The walk to the cairn topping Dunkery Beacon is relatively easy from these areas. Refer to the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL9 Exmoor map for detail.

Tarr Steps. Famous clapper bridge spanning the River Barle in the Tarr Steps Woodland National Nature Reserve. Great for family walks. In the south section of the National Park.

Watersmeet. Another National Trust property but this time near the coast and Lynmouth and Lynton in the north of Exmoor. Cream teas and paddling in the River Lyn.

Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway. Take a family trip on this funicular cliff lift running between Lynmouth and Lynton and enjoy the amazing views from up top.

Heddon's Mouth Cleave. The cleave, or valley, runs down to Heddon's Mouth Beach on Exmoor's coast. Stunning place. The Hunters Inn is at the south end of the valley.

The Lynton and Barnstaple Railway. Narrow gauge railway running between Woody Bay and Killington Lane Halt.

Watermouth Castle. Popular family attraction by Combe Martin and the west border of the National Park.

Exmoor Zoo. Top zoo near the west border of Exmoor.

 

Beaches

Minehead Beach. Huge low tide sand beach in this renowned seaside resort. Packed with families in high season. Located by the east border of Exmoor.

Combe Martin Beach. All the way on the other side of Exmoor from Minehead, Combe Martin Beach is situated at the bottom of the village.

Ilfracombe Sea Safari. Explore the Exmoor coastline from Ilfracombe in North Devon.

Lynmouth boat trips. Alternatively, book a trip along the coast from Lynmouth.
