Best Exmoor Pubs, Lynmouth, Exmoor National Park

With some of the most beautiful coastline and moorland in the UK, Exmoor National Park has plenty of pubs in very special locations from which to enjoy the views and vibe. Below is a list of some of the best we've come across in years of photographing and researching this part of South West England.

We've started with The Rising Sun owing to its location overlooking Lynmouth Harbour.

 

Other pubs located in or around Exmoor National Park that we'd recommend visiting include the following:

 

Coastal and nearby

The Bottom Ship Inn in Porlock Weir. Coastal pub overlooking Porlock Bay. Great access to the beach and sea. The South West Coast Path runs past the pub and the Coleridge Way is nearby.

The Rising Sun in Lynmouth. As above.

The Blue Ball Inn on Countisbury Hill east of Lynmouth. Situated by the A39 at Countisbury. The South West Coast Path runs nearby and provides magnificent views down to Lynton and Lynmouth in Lynmouth Bay.

The Hunters Inn in Heddon's Mouth Cleave. Beautiful, remote location in the west of the National Park. Follow the path down to Heddon's Mouth Beach or walk the South West Coast Path.

The Ship Inn in Porlock. One of Exmoor's most famous destinations, Porlock Bay is north and high moor rises to the south. The Ship Inn is located by the A39 offering easy access.

 

Wooded valleys and nearby

Tarr Farm Inn by Tarr Steps. Riverside inn and hotel by the famous Tarr Steps clapper bridge in the Tarr Steps Woodland National Nature Reserve. Overlooks the River Barle in the south section of the National Park. Dulverton is to the south east.

Riverside and nearby

Tarr Farm Inn by Tarr Steps. As above.

The Bridge Inn in Dulverton. Dulverton is a gateway town to Exmoor. It's located on the south border of the National Park. The Bridge Inn is situated by the River Barle and B3222.

The Anchor Inn in Exebridge. Super pub on a bank of the River Exe just south east of Dulverton and the border of Exmoor National Park.

 

Moorland and nearby

The Exmoor Forest Inn in Simonsbath. The Two Moors Way, Macmillan Way West and Tarka Trail offer access to high moor.

The Exmoor White Horse Inn in Exford. Located in the heart of Exmoor. Great spot in which to relax having explored Dunkery Beacon and Dunkery & Horner Wood National Nature Reserve.

The Royal Oak Exmoor in Winsford. Beautiful village set below Winsford Hill.
