Lynmouth Western Beach, Lynmouth, Exmoor National Park

Rock and coarse sand beach on the west side of Lynmouth Bay

This is the section of the rocky beach running west of the mouth of the River Lyn at one of the most popular visitor destinations in Exmoor National Park. The beach is situated in front of Lynmouth Pavilion National Park Centre, Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway and the Esplanade Fish Bar Restaurant & Takeaway. Great place for fish and chips on the beach. Note that there's coarse sand at the back of the beach. The South West Coast Path rises steeply above the beach and the Two Moors Way begins/ends at the sculpture on The Esplanade.

At the back of the beach, by Lynmouth Harbour and The Esplanade, you'll find areas of coarse sand. At low tide, Lynmouth Western Beach is mainly rock.

The beach backs onto The Esplanade where you can visit Lynmouth Pavilion National Park Visitor Centre or take a trip on the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway. The trip offers superb views of Lynmouth, Lynmouth Bay, Countisbury Hill, The Foreland and Foreland Point.
