Porlock Weir

Magical place. Watch boats and yachts come and go. In addition to food and drink at Millers at the Anchor, there's also The Bottom Ship Inn and The Cafe at Porlock Weir.

Porlock Weir Beach/Porlock Beach, Bossington Beach and Porlock Bay

The magnificent Porlock Bay is lined with pebble and shingle beaches. Porlock Weir Beach is in front of the quay and dock at Porlock Weir.  Porlock Beach and Bossington Beach are to the east (as marked on the Ordnance Survey Explorer OL9 'Exmoor' map). Follow the South West Coast Path east to Porlock Beach. Continue on that coastal path through marshland to get to Bossington Beach. The huge pebble and shingle ridge that arcs behind the beaches was breached during storms and a tidal lagoon formed in the marshland so stick to the South West Coast Path when exploring the eastern end of Porlock Bay.

South West Coast Path

Porlock Weir is an established stopover on the South West Coast Path. Walking east takes you through the marshland behind Porlock Beach and Bossington Beach to Bossington Hill and Minehead. Walking west takes you to Foreland Point and Lynmouth/Lynton.
