The Yarn Market, Butter Cross and Gallox Bridge are English Heritage properties in Dunster village. The 17th-century octagonal market hall and butter cross were where cloth and butter were traded. Gallox Bridge was used by packhorses transporting fleeces to market.

The Yarn Market is located in the High Street across the road from The Luttrell Arms.
Butter Cross is situated on the outskirts of the village on St George’s Street.
Gallox Bridge is on the south side of the village at the end of Park Street where it meets the River Avill.

Follow the A39 to the A396 Dunster turning. There’s a large car park by the entrance to the village just off the A39. It’s clearly visible on Google’s satellite mapping. Note that Dunster National Park Visitor Centre is located near the car park.

You can also take the train to Dunster station and walk from there as part of a day trip to the village. Note that you have to walk from Dunster station to the village.
There’s a smaller car park on the other side of the village by English Heritage’s Gallox Bridge as well.

‘Dunster Yarn Market. A 17th century yarn market. A covered market for the sale of local broadcloth and homespuns. Built in 1609 by George Luttrell, of Dunster Castle, and repaired in 1647, according to the date on the weather vane.
